Salary Hike Calculator

Updated · GetHirePlus team

Find your hike percentage, your new salary after an increment, or the raise you need to reach a target. See the real gain after inflation too. Built for India, 2026. No sign-up needed.

This calculator works out a salary hike three ways. Hike % = (new salary minus old salary) divided by old salary, times 100. New salary = old salary x (1 + hike % / 100). Real hike adjusts for prices: (1 + hike) divided by (1 + inflation), minus 1. Use the same base, monthly or annual CTC, for both figures.

How a salary hike is calculated

The formulas

Hike percentage from two salaries:

((New − Old) / Old) × 100

New salary from a hike percentage:

Old × (1 + Hike% / 100)

Raise needed to reach a target:

((Target − Old) / Old) × 100

The percentage is identical whether you use monthly pay, annual pay, or CTC, as long as both figures share the same base. Only the rupee value of the increment changes.

Real gain after inflation

A raise only helps if it beats rising prices. The quick estimate is:

Real hike ≈ Nominal hike − Inflation

India CPI inflation was 4.82% in August 2026 (MoSPI), so a 9% nominal hike is roughly a 4% real gain in buying power. If your hike sits below the inflation rate, your pay went up in rupees but your purchasing power fell.

One more thing: a hike quoted on CTC is not the same as your take-home rise. After PF, professional tax, and income tax, in-hand usually grows by a little less than the headline percentage. Run old and new CTC through the in-hand salary calculator to see the monthly difference.

What counts as a good hike in 2026

The average comes from Aon’s 2025-26 India salary increase survey. The other ranges reflect common market practice in India and are not from an official dataset, so treat them as a rough guide: your figure depends on role, sector, location, and performance.

How do I calculate my salary hike percentage?

Use ((New salary minus Old salary) / Old salary) x 100. A move from 50,000 to 55,000 is ((55,000 minus 50,000) / 50,000) x 100 = 10%. The same formula works on monthly pay, annual pay, or CTC as long as both numbers use the same base.

What is a good salary hike percentage in India in 2026?

Aon projected an average increase of 9.1% for India in 2026. As a rough market guide (not an official figure), 8% to 12% is a standard annual increment, 15% to 25% usually signals strong performance or a promotion, and a job switch often brings 20% to 30%, more for scarce skills.

How do I calculate my new salary after a hike?

New salary = Old salary x (1 + hike percentage / 100). For a 20% hike on 10,00,000, the new figure is 10,00,000 x 1.20 = 12,00,000.

What is a real salary hike after inflation?

Real hike adjusts your raise for rising prices. A close estimate is nominal hike minus the inflation rate. With India CPI at 4.82% in August 2026, a 9% nominal hike is roughly a 4% real gain. If your hike is below the inflation rate, your buying power fell.

Is the hike calculated on CTC or in-hand salary?

The percentage is the same on either base, but the rupee value differs. Offers usually quote the hike on CTC, while take-home rises by a smaller amount after PF, professional tax, and income tax. Confirm which base an offer uses before comparing two of them.

Does a higher percentage always mean a better offer?

Not on its own. A large percentage on a low current salary can still be a smaller rupee gain than a modest percentage on a high one. Check the actual increment in rupees, the real gain after inflation, and the in-hand figure, not just the headline percentage.
